Wie is Gary Bond?

Bond, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychiatry and researcher at Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center, Geisel Medical School at Dartmouth in Lebanon, New Hampshire (USA).  Prior to his move to Dartmouth in 2009, he was Chancellor’s Professor of Psychology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.  Bond has devoted over 30 years to the study of psychiatric rehabilitation and treatment practices for people with psychiatric disabilities.  His research aims at identifying, evaluating, refining, implementing, and sustaining evidence-based psychiatric rehabilitation practices.  For the past two decades his primary focus has been on the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model of supported employment.  Earlier in his career he focused primarily on the assertive community treatment model.  Bond’s work has included randomized controlled trials, implementation studies, and comprehensive reviews of the literature on employment services and on case management services for people with severe psychiatric disabilities.  Bond has collaborated with Dartmouth colleagues in disseminating IPS to 19 states in the US National IPS Learning Community and to Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
